The short version
Hootsuite costs $99/user/month on the Standard plan (annual billing), $249/user/month on Advanced, and starts at 5-user custom contracts on Enterprise. It charges per seat. Trustpilot rating is 1.5 stars across 540+ reviews, almost all about billing disputes. AI is a caption generator.
SonetHub costs €0–129/month with flat-rate pricing — no per-seat fees. AI is a first-party agent that generates text, images, video, and music; builds multi-step automation flows from a sentence; replies to DMs with rich media + button templates; and learns your brand voice from your edits. EU-built, GDPR-native.
If you're a creator, freelancer, or small team, this isn't close.
Pricing: the numbers
Hootsuite has no free plan. Here's what the tiers cost in 2026:
| Plan | Hootsuite (annual) | Hootsuite (monthly) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $99/user/mo | $149/user/mo |
| Advanced | $249/user/mo | $399/user/mo |
| Enterprise | Custom, 5-user minimum | — |
SonetHub:
| Plan | Price | Accounts | Team | Daily publishes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 2 | 1 | 3/day (no monthly cap) |
| Starter | €15/mo | 4 | 1 | 30/day |
| Growth | €29/mo | 8 | 2 | 100/day |
| Pro | €59/mo | 15 | 5 | 300/day |
| Business | €129/mo | 30 | 15 | 1,000/day |
The gap is sharpest for teams. A 3-person team on Hootsuite Standard pays $297/month, on Advanced $747/month. The same team on SonetHub Pro pays €59/month total — not per person. For a 5-person agency, the gap widens to roughly 10×.
Billing practices
Hootsuite carries a 1.5-star Trustpilot rating across 540+ reviews. The pattern in the complaints is consistent: users report being charged full annual fees after free trials end without clear warning, charges continuing after cancellation, and difficulty getting refunds. One reviewer reported over €1,000 withdrawn after deleting their card details. Another was charged nearly $2,000 AUD when a trial expired.
G2 tells a different story (4.2 stars), which suggests users who stick with Hootsuite long-term are satisfied — but the onboarding and billing experience drives a lot of people away before they get there.
SonetHub's free plan has no credit card requirement. Paid plans are monthly by default. You cancel from the settings page. No annual lock-in unless you choose it.
AI: caption generator vs first-party agent
Hootsuite added an AI surface called OwlyWriter, plus "Blue Silk" AI summaries and automated smart replies in 2025-26. The scope: caption generation, hashtag suggestions, post ideas, sentiment summaries on listening data, and template-based auto-replies. No image generation, no video generation, no music. The AI is a feature inside a dashboard you still drive manually.
SonetHub's AI is the dashboard. The chat agent is the primary interface:
- "Create a LinkedIn post and Instagram carousel about our Q1 results" — writes the text, generates the images, formats each for the platform, and queues them.
- "Build me an automation that DMs new commenters the pricing link and follows up 24h later if they don't reply" — opens the canvas with the trigger config + step tree already laid out, ready to review.
- "What performed best this week?" — pulls your analytics and writes the executive summary.
- "Reply to the important DMs in my inbox" — classifies messages by importance, drafts replies in your brand voice, waits for approval.
The agent generates text, images, video, and music. It learns your brand voice from every edit you make (no manual style-guide upload). It builds working automations from a natural-language brief.

Automations: the gap nobody talks about
Hootsuite has scheduled posting, basic auto-replies, and approval workflows. That's the automation surface.
SonetHub has a full automation engine:
- A node-graph canvas (same shape as ManyChat, Make, HubSpot) for building rules — one step or twenty.
- Trigger sources beyond keywords — comments, @mentions, story replies (DMs that replied to one of your IG stories), direct messages. Each with filters for keyword, author criteria, sentiment, category, first-time vs Nth-time contact, audience tags.
- Multi-step flows with
delay(pause N minutes),wait_for_reply(park the flow until the contact responds or 24h timeout),if_elsebranching on contact tags or reply content. - Rich DMs as a step — attach an image or video, add quick-reply buttons, send a Meta-native Button or Card Template.
- "Build with AI" on the canvas — describe the automation in a sentence; the agent assembles the trigger and step tree.
- Contacts + tagging — every commenter and DMer becomes a contact; tag them, filter automations on tags ("fire only if tagged
vip"), set custom fields.
This whole layer doesn't exist in Hootsuite.

Both cover the major networks. SonetHub adds Bluesky and goes deeper on Instagram (story import + per-story reply tracking), TikTok (Business API retention curves, industry benchmarks across 24 categories), and YouTube (per-video retention, traffic sources).
Where Hootsuite wins
Three real things:
- Enterprise compliance. Complex approval chains, multi-org management, mature audit logs. If your procurement requires SOC2 reports and a vendor that's been around since 2008, Hootsuite is built for that.
- Integration ecosystem. Hundreds of third-party connectors (Salesforce, ServiceNow, ad-tech tools). SonetHub has Canva and is adding more.
- Listening at scale. Hootsuite Insights (powered by Brandwatch) lets you track arbitrary keywords across the open web. SonetHub monitors mentions on your connected platforms, not the entire internet.
Where SonetHub wins
- Price. Solo: €15 vs $99. 3-person team: €59 vs $297-$747. 5-person agency: €129 vs ~$1,250. Not close.
- First-party AI agent. Text + images + video + music in one conversation. Brand memory that learns from your edits. Hootsuite's AI writes captions.
- A real automation engine. Multi-step flows, story-reply triggers, rich DMs with buttons + templates, contacts + tagging, "Build with AI" on the canvas. None of this is in Hootsuite.
- No per-seat pricing. Add team members without your bill multiplying.
- Unified inbox with AI classification. DMs sorted by importance, sentiment classified, AI-drafted replies. Hootsuite has an inbox; we have the engine on top of it.
- EU-native. Spanish legal entity, GDPR by default, data processed in the EU.
